Taking Care of Your Teeth During Summer

Summer is the time when most of us get out more and we do season-specific things that may disrupt our well-established daily routine, including our dental cleaning regimen. However, summer is also the period of the year when fresh, locally produced is plentiful around you and maintaining a healthier diet is easier, so here are a few tips that you can use to make the most of summertime and to take proper care of your teeth as well:

  • Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables – including fruits and veggies into your diet several times a day will prompt your salivary glands to work harder, producing more saliva to flush the dental cavity and to keep your teeth stronger and healthier;
  • Keep a set of dental cleaning tools with you all the time – a toothbrush, a travel-sized toothpaste and some dental floss will not take up too much space in your bag, but will allow you to clean your teeth whenever you need to or feel like it, even during an outing to the beach in the company of your friends;
  • Chewing gum – keep some sugar-free chewing gum in your bag and chew a piece after each of your meals to reduce the action of harmful acids in your mouth.
  • See a cosmetic dentist Highlands Ranch offers to keep your teeth looking their best, and have any damages immediately fixed.
